Sasha Dmytryk, Mechanical Design Engineer at Charge Cars.

Describe your day as a Mechanical Design Engineer at Charge Cars.

Usually, the day starts with a drive to the office, listening to my personal favourite deep house music. After a short walk to my desk and a coffee during the first meeting, my day kicks off.

With a hundred things to solve it’s sometimes hard but completing one task at a time always results in perfection.

I will spend a few hours at the computer designing, researching and collaborating with suppliers, as well as supporting my teammates. With meetings spread throughout the day, the hours disappear and the workday ends quite quickly.

Overall, the days are never the same, but they are always exciting. My day ends with more deep house music to unwind to whilst driving home.

Top tip for someone entering your field of work.

Be open minded and always remember there are no stupid questions!!! Never be afraid to ask.

What trend, if any, is shaping your area of work right now?

Cloud computing and multidisciplinary design work. Now more than ever CAD is becoming global and cloud based PLM/PDM (Product Lifecycle Management / Product Data Management) solutions are allowing us to design more seamlessly and efficiently in cross-functional teams. These new shifts in work processes are allowing us to be more agile and adaptable, which results in a better end product.

Working here, what are you most looking forward to?

Always looking forward to tomorrow to be able to look at yesterday and do it better today. Ultimately I look forward to turning ideas into reality.

What book would you recommend?

“Mechanical Engineers Pocket Book” will always come in handy. If you want a book for the soul read ‘The Shack’ by William P. Young.
