In June 2022, we had the pleasure of exhibiting the Electric Mustang to the public at the Goodwood Festival of Speed. Here is an exclusive first-look at all the work we did to make it happen.

The Goodwood Festival of Speed 2022 took place on the 23–26th of June. Charge Cars decided to enter one of our vehicles to showcase our progress as we head towards production. The Electric Mustang is equipped with 1520 Nm of torque, 545 bhp, 400kW. The car was in top condition to complete 8 Hillclimbs over the 4 days at Goodwood.

Our test team, together with our systems engineers, prepared the vehicle at Millbrook Proving Ground, putting it through its paces in preparation for the Hillclimb. This included repeated launches and accelerations, as well as optimising the suspension, steering and geometry setup.

Our car was driven over the 4 days by 5 professional racers from endurance racing and Formula E through to Drift racing and Drag Racing.

- Lucas di Grassi: Formula E Champion, Le Mans Podium Holder and a driver for Formula 1,2 & 3.

- Oliver Webb: Le Mans Winner and Dubai 24 Hour Champion.

- Michelle Westby: Drift Cup Competitor, stunt driver and Formula G racer.

- Thomas Howarth: Automotive influencer, owner of @horsepower_hunters.

- Jordan Payne: Santa Pod drag race champion and a new starter with the Electrical Team at Charge Cars.

Some of the racers have a long-standing relationship with Charge Cars. Lucas di Grassi has become a good friend of our CEO, Vadim, since the inception of the company and Oliver Webb has worked with us through our mutual partner, Michelin, for over a year. Jordan Payne is a Championship Santa Pod drag racer who connected with Charge Cars through Mark Roberts, our CCO. He recently took up an Electrical Engineer position at the company a couple weeks after the festival. Michelle Westby and Thomas Howarth were the newest addition to our network of partners. We took the opportunity to highlight talented women in the automotive industry by working with Michelle after meeting her team at Salon Privé this April.

To ensure the event went to plan, we selected members from different departments to be on-site covering all aspects of the festival. The car was managed by our build techs, electricians and paint team who made sure during every Hillclimb the car looked and performed perfectly. We had our Head of CMF (Colour, Materials and Finishes), Marketing & PR staff talking with prospective clients about our Customer Journey, explaining how we can make the Electric Mustang unique to each client. Goodwood was our biggest event to date; all of Charge Cars senior management were present to witness the hard work the whole team put into the car and the event itself.

We attracted thousands of eyes during the 4 days and to best showcase our car we enlisted several photographers and videographers who captured some great assets. We worked closely with Averner, Charlie B, George Williams and The Kyza who provided us with amazing footage, including His Grace The Duke of Richmond experiencing the car with our CEO, all the professional racers driving up the hill and getting their first impressions of the vehicle and crowd reactions.

The highlight for us at Charge Cars was to see the car do 8 perfect Hillclimbs with amazing feedback. This really showcased that we are doing something special with our product and we quickly became one of the most talked about attractions of the event.

We are so incredibly proud of our achievements this year. Big thank you to the team who made it all possible and to the thousands of people supporting our project.

Stay tuned for our official US launch at the Petersen Automotive Museum in October 2022.
